Hidden details that may be robbing your engine performance
There's an old saying, "what you don't know, can't hurt you". That may be true when comes to some things in life, but not when it relates to your engine's performance or efficiency.
This is a close up of a 35,000 mile engine air filter that was long over due for replacement. Depending on driving conditions, such as dusty roads or stop and go driving, your engine's air filter may experience longer or shorter service life.
This what a fresh engine air filter looks like. Of course over time, while doing its intended job, all engine air filters will slowly start to get dirty and plugged up eventually reducing the ability for the engine to easily take in air.
Here are both filters side by side. Imagine jogging and then putting a scarf over your face while running. Which would be easier for "your engine" with or without something blocking your air intake?
Remember, details like these are sometimes overlooked by other shops because they don't/can't carry every single air filter for every car they work on. 5 Changes you should know about Facebook
If you are user of Facebook, then you noticed there were some changes to what you saw on your screen. Some are minor but some are major.
Some of the changes include:
1) The News Feed Ticker - this is the one on the upper right side of your screen.
2) Smart Lists - this is Facebook's way of helping you manage all your contacts, friends and family by separating them into groups.
3) The New Feed - this is where you see the actual posting from those you are following. However it has changed, Facebook will present posts that based on your previous interaction with those contacts up top.
4) The Subscribe Button - this is where you can make your personal profile more public.
5) Timeline - is something very new and part of Facebook's F8. This is where all your stories, all your apps in a new way to express who you are. Kind of like a personal online scrapbook.

A Hole in One wins an Infiniti G37 Convertible!
Today's the day for the King's Crusade prostate cancer research fund raiser golf event. It turned out to be a beautiful day along with Arnie's Army Battles and the Prostate Cancer Foundation organizers on the Dublin Ranch Golf Course in San Ramon, CA.
The 18 hole event had a Shotgun Start at 1:00pm with a four person scramble. A lucky participant with a Hole in One at the third hole will win the brand new Infiniti G37 Convertible you see in the picture above!

Is Premium fuel necessary for your Infiniti?
We get asked this question by many owners and thought we take the mystery out of which grade of gasoline to use in your cars.
Many owners use premium gasoline in the belief that it's better for engines than regular. That can be a costly mistake, especially during times of high fuel prices. Octane grades don't represent a "good, better, best" choice; they simply measure the resistance of fuel to knocking or pinging, a condition in which gasoline burns uncontrollably in the engine's combustion chambers. Knocking and pinging can damage an engine.
While high-octane formulations resist knocking better than lower octanes, most engines are designed to take regular gas, which has an octane rating of about 87. Engines requiring premium gas are typically the more powerful ones found in sports and luxury vehicles, which include those found in your Infiniti. Infiniti engines use a very high compression ratio (which is basically how tight the piston squeezes the air/fuel mixture), making them more vulnerable to knocking, so recommended fuels have octane ratings of 91 or higher.
Some engines for which premium gasoline is recommended can run on regular without problems. That's because the engine's knock-sensor system detects the presence of uncontrolled burning in the combustion chambers. When it does, the engine's computer-control system retards engine timing, eliminating the knock but slightly reducing power.
If you don't mind giving up some performance, you can run these engines on less-expensive regular gasoline. To check whether your engine is capable of running on regular gas, read your owner's manual or give us a call! What grade of fuel do you use in your Infiniti?

Infiniti of Pleasanton is a proud to be a Corporate Patron Sponsor of the the Moraga Open tennis tournament taking place Aug 3rd through Aug 8, 2010. Originally called the Stead Open was conceived as the NorCal Sectionals in 1980 and relocated to Moraga Country Club in 1983. Since it's inception, it has grown significantly in spectator participation, player involvement and prize money.
In 1986, the tournament became known as the Stead Open with the involvement of Stead Motors as the major sponsor and the prize money increased from $2,000 to $10,000. This resulted in the tournament earning its way to being considered a very prestigious tennis event. In addition to the increase in prize money, the tournament joined the ranks of open section status which allowed the tournament to draw from a much larger geographic area.
Since 1986, there have been several increases in prize money from $10,000 to the $25,000 currently held as the purse, placing the Moraga Open among the highest prize money open sectional tournaments in the nation . As the prize money has increased, so has both the quantity and quality of players.
The Moraga Open has received very favorable press over the years. In 1990, Inside Tennis voted the Moraga Open the tournament of the 80?s. In 1993, the Moraga Open was recognized as one of the most prestigious Open tournaments in the nation and was featured as such in Tennis Magazine., This magazine has the largest circulation of any tennis magazine. The Moraga Open has received consistent press in Inside Tennis as well as local coverage in the Contra Costa Times and most recently on KGO Radio.

Use CARS for new cars
Considering trading in your vehicle? Take advantage of the CAR Allowance Rebate System (CARS), a federal program that helps the consumers buy or lease a more environmentally-friendly vehicle from dealers when they trade in a less fuel-efficient car or truck. The CARS is basically a $1 billion government program through which the consumers can get a $3,500 or $4,500 discount from the dealer when they trade in their old vehicle and buy or lease a new one. One main plus point of the program is that the consumers do not have to register anywhere or at any time for this program. Here are a few important points to keep in mind to utilize the benefits of this program.
Your vehicle must be less than 25 years old on the trade-in date
Only purchase or lease of new vehicles qualify
Generally, trade-in vehicles must get 18 or less MPG (some very large pick-up trucks and cargo vans have different requirements).
Trade-in vehicles must be registered and insured continuously for the full year preceding the trade-in
The program requires the scrapping of your eligible trade-in vehicle, and that the dealers disclose to you an estimate of the scrap value of your trade-in. The scrap value, however minimal, will be in addition to the rebate, and not in place of the rebate.
Last but not the least, the CARS program runs through November 1, 2009 or when the funds are exhausted, whichever comes first

"Cash for Clunkers" at Infiniti of Pleasanton!
The program, which is due to expire on Oct. 31, lets new car buyers turn in an old vehicle and receive a voucher for between $3,500 and $4,500 to put toward a new, more fuel-efficient car. Cars and trucks must be 1984 models or newer and get 18 mpg or less to be eligible for a trade-in rebate.The idea is to spur vehicle sales while the industry is struggling with the effects of the economic downturn as well as help the environment by getting old, gas guzzling vehicles off U.S. roads.
